Gateway M320 Reviews

Despite that relatively large screen, the system weighs in at just 5.5 pounds and is able to last more than 4 hours on a single battery charge. Although the M320X Plus features a high-speed 802.11g Wi-Fi adapter, the system's battery life is cut by just 4 minutes when the Wi-Fi radio is activated.

Gateway has designed one of the smallest laptops that has a 15-inch display. No, the 12.9 x 10.5 x 1-inch M320X Plus isn't an ultraportable laptop, but for a system with a big screen and comfortable full-sized keyboard, its dimensions are impressive.

Gateway M320 reviews confirmed that this laptop is able to offer a great level of performance even though its 80GB hard drive spins at just 4,200 rpm and 64MB of its system memory is used by the video adapter integrated into the Intel 855 chipset.

The M320X Plus is able to offer such an impressive battery runtime because of Intel's Centrino technology at its heart. This includes Intel's 2200BG wireless networking adapter, and 1.7-GHz Pentium M 745 processor, all of which have been designed for low power consumption.

The Pentium M 745 offers a nice punch of performance. You're able to cruise through Photoshop, Excel, MP3 encoding, and every other task you can put on it.

In this Gateway M320 reviews the M320X Plus' gaming abilities are limited by the integrated video adapter. The Gateway M320 performance isn't terrible; it just doesn't pump out the fluid motion. If you're a gamer, you'll need a laptop with a graphics card such as an ATI or Nvidia and dedicated video memory.

The M320X Plus is a solid mobile video workstation, though. Thanks to a four-pin FireWire port on the left side and a multiformat DVD burner on the right, you can easily connect your digital camcorder and then use Nero Burning ROM to record it onto a DVD-R, -RW, +R, or +RW disc.

Beyond that FireWire port, the system also features four USB 2.0 ports. There's also a combination Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard/Memory Stick reader to go along with a standard Type II PC Card slot.

Finally, in this Gateway M320 review, the price is very reasonable, and the M320X Plus is a great choice if you're looking for a powerful, portable laptop. I'd upgrade to Gateway's optional 3-year warranty for an additional $159. It's well worth it.
