HP Compaq NC6000 Review: It may not be flashy, but the HP Compaq Business Notebook NC6000 is a sturdy and fast laptop that can supply hours of run time away from an outlet. It's perfectly suited for business travelers or anyone who brings a notebook home fairly often.

One great characteristic of the NC6000 is that it uses Atheros' 802.11a/b/g wireless which will allow you to connect anywhere, anytime. If you leave the wireless on constantly, you'll lose about two hours run time. Battery up-time will drop from about six hours to four. But you can easily toggle the wireless on and off with the dedicated button above the keyboard.

The full-sized keyboard is great if your a touch-typist and this model provides you with both a touchpad and pointing stick.

The NC6000 offers expansion options for everyone. In addition to the two stacked PC Card slots, there's a Secure Digital card reader for swapping files with compatible digital cameras and other devices, and the serial and parallel ports are on the back edge. As this is a business notebook, the lack of a FireWire port is understandable.

Featuring ATI's Mobility Radeon 9600 graphics, the NC6000 is more than capable of handling video and heavy Photoshop or PowerPoint work. Playing any games, except 3D, or watching DVD's is also easily handled.

Regardless of where your work takes you, this system will pass the test with flying colors.
